About Me
I’m Dr. Elaine Ferguson. I am a physician, a graduate of Brown University, Duke University School of Medicine, and completed my residency at the University of Chicago’s Hospitals and Clinics.
One of the things I looked anxiously forward to learning in medical school was how to help people improve their health. I kept waiting for health to show up in one of my classes. That never happened. You see, medical school was about disease and treatment, not health. But that didn’t stop me—I was determined to learn about health to help my patients to the best of my ability.
My greatest disappointment with my medical education and training was the gaping absence of health information and how to help people become healthier. And that disappointment ultimately became one of my greatest blessings.
After completing my residency training and practicing medicine for almost two years, I realized I couldn’t do that for the rest of my life. It was too limited and frustrating – primarily consisting of recommending drugs and surgery.
I always had an interest in healing in a spiritual sense, and began to explore the mechanisms of health improvement and well-being.
Fortunately, medical researchers were beginning to do the same, with research studies uncovering the hidden secrets of health and well-being. In fact there are new fields of medical and health research that now reveal the remarkable powers of the body to repair itself.
